At West Harbour School will be introducing two Walking School Buses on a Thursday and Friday afternoon starting in Week 5. One bus will walk up West Harbour Drive while the second bus will take children up Hueglow Rise, along Fitzherbert Ave up to Truscott Place. We have two wonderful mothers who will lead the buses on these routes, with the hopes of adding more routes and parent volunteers in the new year. If you would like your child(ren) to be part of this programme please fill in the Walking School Bus consent form at the office or download it from the school website and hand into the office. A walking school bus is just like a school bus except children walk to and from primary school under the supervision of adult volunteers (often parents), who act as the walking school bus driver. To start our programme, children are collected from class at the 3 o’clock bell and will be walked along the planned routes and dropped off at specific points for you to pick up. Along the way they learn how to safely negotiate the road as well as socialise with friends and neighbours and improve fitness.
