Welcome to West Harbour School. We provide quality education for new entrants to year 8 students.
West Harbour School was opened in May 1979 and began with 150 children. The school, over the years, has grown to a roll of over 400.
Organisation West Harbour School is a variable teaching space school, built with open teaching spaces, separate classrooms, withdrawal rooms and a library resource room. A new two-up, two-down classroom block for senior students was opened in 1999. The school is divided into five separate areas or Syndicates, each administered by a Senior Teacher. The Syndicates are: Manuka | Matai | Nikau | Titoki | Kahikatea Each child has a home group teacher. During the day children may move to other teachers for certain curriculum areas.
School Hours 8.55am School Commences 10.30am Morning Interval 11.10am Morning School Resumes 1.10pm Lunchtime 1.50pm Afternoon School Resumes 3.00pm Home Time Children need to be at school by 8.45am so that they can be organized for the day. These hours remain the same on wet days. (Lunchtimes are not shortened on wet days).
Term Dates 2011 Term 1: Tuesday 01 February – Friday 15 April (10 weeks, 3days) Term 2: Monday 02 May – Friday 15 July (11 weeks) Term 3: Monday 01 August – Friday 07 October (10 weeks) Term 4: Monday 25 October – Thursday 15 December (8 weeks)
