Reading

Room 6 says “The more we Read the more we Learn. 

So, READ, READ, READ. 

We have Reading lessons everyday in Room 6.  We enjoy working in our reading groups.  There is a variety of reading material such as big books, poem charts, library books, topic books, a browsing box with books we are familiar with Duffy books and our own published work available for reading in our room. We love shared reading because we learn new reading skills during this time. In shared reading we all read together as a whole class group.  Every Thursday we go to the library.  We choose new books that we can bring to our classroom. We learn library skills and taking care of our books during this time as well. 

We are very fortunate at West Harbour School because we get Duffy books.  These books are given to us free because our school is a member of Duffy Books in Homes scheme.
