Reading
TERM 1: Students will be reading tested using different tests to assess their reading skills - reading aloud, comprehension (understanding of the text read), vocabulary, to name but a few and then placed into reading groups with students of a similiar ability.
Students will be learning and developing their use of different comprehension strategies. This includes learning how to evaluate information from a text, inferring information and working on developing their understanding of vocabulary or phrases.
Students will be reading texts they have chosen themselves and also concept-study related texts e.g. texts about Ancient Egypt, anthropology, archeology, non-fiction stories about challenge and change and so much more!
