Maths

Here in Room 3 we LOVE maths! We do maths every single day for at least 40mins.

On a Monday we spend time doing strand maths which at the moment is focused on Statistics. On Tuesdays to Fridays we focus our learning on Numeracy.

In Statistics we are currently learning how to collect data in a tally chart and how to use this data to create different graphs. We have been collecting lots of different data about what our favourite breakfasts are, what our favourite foods are, our favourite activities and data related to our topic like what learning we found challenging, what changes we want to make in our learning etc. We are learning about pictographs, bar graphs, and line graphs.

In Numeracy we are focusing our learning around building up our number knowledge. We are learning how to count forwards and backwards to 100, how to instantly recall our basic facts to 20, and how to understand place value in 2 and 3 digit numbers. We are also learning our multiplication by using our knowledge of skip counting.
